The Opportunity Fund

Liveries enthusiastically supported our Digital Divide project raising £170,000 so over 60 schools could buy digital equipment for disadvantaged students. “Now I can be the same as the others” was the thanks from just one pupil.

Building on this momentum, The Opportunity Fund is launched. This initiative is already welcomed and endorsed by the Lord Mayor and Sheriffs. Now we invite Liveries to contribute annual sums to the Fund to be allocated to schools which have submitted proposals on how these donations can meet their most urgent needs.

Schools tell us that these needs include basics like uniforms, shoes and equipment, school trips, additional free school meals, sanitary and hygiene items, support for families and improved digital connectivity

The set-up of The Opportunity Fund means LSL handles all the initial administration, selection and monitoring of participating schools. Thus, Liveries need not spend their time identifying schools to assess their needs.  The process is straight forward: after the initial LSL introduction, Liveries have the option of connecting with “their” school to develop a relationship which may cover activities over and above the relief of hardship.
