Thank you for your interest in volunteering to support the next generation of young people and children discover the world of work!
In partnership with Livery Schools Link, Speakers for Schools and Inspiring the Future are excited to welcome volunteers from all Livery Companies and Guilds to engage with and support students and pupils in schools and colleges across the UK.
Speakers for Schools and Inspiring the Future, two independent charities, provide exciting opportunities for volunteers to engage, helping to increase the employability and life chances of young people in education. Most of the schools and colleges are in areas where the young people come from socially disadvantaged backgrounds.
Members of Livery Companies and Guilds can get involved in a number of ways, you can choose to do either of the below or both:
Volunteer to talk to young people about your career
Inspiring the Future connects volunteers from the world of work with schools from primary to FE college via its online match-making platform. Research shows that by sharing your career story with young people you can open their eyes to a range of possibilities and break gender stereotypes and misconceptions about what they think they can and can’t be.
Inspiring the Future asks that volunteers give at least an hour a year and offer both face-to-face and virtual opportunities. Once you have created your profile, your account will be visible to teachers and they can invite you in through the system to attend a face-to-face activity (local) or a virtual event (national). You can also express interest in activities you would like to participate in via the online platform.
To become a volunteer and Be Their Inspiration! simply click this link and fill out your details. The answers will form your profile which is what teachers see. The form also includes terms and conditions which you will need to accept to become an Inspiring the Future volunteer. When you’re filling out your Inspiring the Future profile please find and select your Livery Company, Guild or Company in the section ‘Account/Organisation’.
Once you’ve signed up, you will receive a welcome email and a volunteer handbook, which will be the start of your volunteering journey with Inspiring the Future.
Volunteer to provide access to meaningful work experience
Speakers for Schools can help you and your organisation offer work experience including virtual work experience for secondary aged students. If you would like to discuss this further, simply click this link and fill out your details, and a member of the charity’s team will get in touch.
We are excited to be entering this partnership with Speakers for Schools and Inspiring the Future, providing a platform that can help all Livery Companies, Guilds and their Members support students in education across the UK.
Thank you for taking part!
