Working with 13 schools and 16 Livery Companies, funded by a generous grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund, we are well on our way on a creative journey through the supply chain to the First World War. Students are discovering stories of those who worked behind the scenes of the war designing and making equipment and supplies which were needed at the Front. Their research is taking them through the history of the Livery Companies of the City of London, some of whom have been trading for hundreds of years.
The project will culminate in an exhibition at Guildhall Art Gallery which will be open from Friday 31 March to Sunday 16 July inclusive. Livery Companies and schools are invited to arrange special guided tours and enquire about the workshops and special events which will be held in the Gallery.
Key dates and times:
- Press Preview (morning, invitees only) and Open Afternoon from 14.00 to 17.00 at Guildhall Art Gallery will take place on Thursday 30 March 2017.
- Official Opening Ceremony will take place on Wednesday 19 April from 17.45 to 20.00.
- The Lord Mayor and his party will arrive at 17.45 and with speeches and a short ceremony at 18.15, he will leave at 18.30
